Smithville High School has tapped a proven winner to lead its boys basketball program, officially naming Eric Nickles as the new head coach.
The announcement, shared by the Smithville Athletic Department, marks an exciting new chapter for the Smithies as they bring in a seasoned leader with deep roots in local hoops.
Nickles is a highly respected figure in the area, known for maximizing player potential and building championship-level programs. He steps into the boys’ coaching vacancy following a spectacular run guiding the Smithville girls’ basketball team. Under his leadership, the girls’ squad captured an outright Wayne County Athletic League (WCAL) title and claimed a Division VI district championship trophy.
His impressive coaching resume spans multiple levels of competitive basketball, including:
