August 18, 2026
The Perry Panthers baseball program is entering a new era. Perry Local Schools officially announced the hiring of Scott Koenig as the high school’s new Head Baseball Coach.
Koenig joins the Panthers with four decades of deep-rooted experience spanning roles as an accomplished player, coach, and elite instructor. His extensive high school coaching resume features a four-year stint at Cuyahoga Falls High School, leading Archbishop Hoban in 2008, and a historic return to his alma mater at Nordonia High School. At Nordonia, Koenig famously guided the Knights to an undefeated Northeast Ohio Lake Conference record in 2011.
“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Scott Koenig to the Perry athletics family,” said Perry Athletic Director Kevin Yoder. “Scott’s extensive background in Northeast Ohio baseball, combined with his proven leadership and ability to develop young talent, makes him the ideal choice to guide our program forward.”
Off the diamond, Koenig’s impact on local youth athletics is well-established. He serves as a hitting and pitching instructor and board member at Play Ball Academy in Stow. His lifelong dedication to the sport earned him an induction into the Greater Akron Baseball Hall of Fame in 2015.
Scott Koenig embodies the strong values, passion, and work ethic we want for our student-athletes,” added Perry High School Principal Bill Hildebrand. “His lifelong commitment to the sport and his vision for building a positive culture both on and off the field will deeply benefit our baseball team and community.”
With a Hall of Fame resume and deep Northeast Ohio roots, Koenig looks ready to hit the ground running in Perry Township.
