Indians option slumping outfielder Oscar Mercado

The Cleveland Indians optioned struggling outfielder Oscar Mercado to their alternate training site after Sunday's 8-5 win over the Tigers, the team announced Monday.

Mercado, 25, is hitting just .111 with three RBIs and has a .278 OPS in 45 at-bats this season. He has started in the outfield for 13 of the Indians' 22 games.

Mount Union reveals spring football slate

The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) announced on Thursday preliminary spring competition schedules for the four team sports that were postponed this fall due to COVID-19. The schedules include football, men’s soccer, women’s soccer and women’s volleyball.

Each schedule will feature conference-only competition and do not exceed the NCAA 50 percent waiver so that all student-athletes will retain one of their four seasons of eligibility.
