Cleveland Cavaliers lose NBA Draft lottery, will get No. 5 pick

The NBA draft lottery was delayed three months. The Minnesota Timberwolves are certainly feeling like the wait was worthwhile.

The Timberwolves won the lottery Thursday night, giving them the No. 1 pick. The lottery was conducted virtually because of the pandemic, with NBA officials doing the actual draw in Secaucus, New Jersey.

Indians’ Terry Francona to have surgical procedure, miss Pirates series

Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona will miss his team's three-game series against the Pirates, which begins Tuesday night.

General manager Mike Chernoff said Francona will have a "scheduled procedure" to address a gastrointestinal issue. Francona also sat out seven games Aug. 3-9 because of the ailment.

The Indians are hopeful Francona will be back in the dugout Friday night in Cleveland for the opener of a three-game series against the Tigers.
