Indians’ Cesar Hernandez and Roberto Perez win 2020 Gold Gloves

While most of the country found itself glued to election results on Tuesday night, baseball opted to crown some winners of its own, announcing the recipients of its 2020 Gold Gloves. And for Cleveland, that meant adding two new pieces of hardware, with second baseman Cesar Hernandez and catcher Roberto Perez each being named Gold Glove recipients for the American League.

Fortress Obetz to Host OHSAA Football Championships

The upcoming Ohio High School Athletic Association football state championships will be hosted by Fortress Obetz, a multi-purpose sports complex located in Obetz on the southeast side of Columbus. The Division I state championship will take place as previously announced on Friday, Nov. 13, while the finals in Divisions II through VII will be played on Nov. 20, 21 and 22 (Friday through Sunday), with two games each day.

Indians Place Brad Hand On Outright Waivers

In a rather stunning move, the Indians have placed closer Brad Hand on outright waivers, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports (via Twitter). It’s a pure cost-cutting transaction from Cleveland, with the hope that another team places a claim on the left-hander, who has a $10MM club option on his current contract. Any club that claims Hand would be able to pick up that option and retain him for the 2021 season at that $10MM price.
