After two seasons at Ohio State, guard Meechie Johnson Jr. has entered the transfer portal.

A product of Garfield Heights, Ohio, Johnson graduated high school early, enrolled at Ohio State during the 2020-21 season and played in 17 games during what would otherwise have been his senior year of basketball. It also marked his first extended team action since suffering a torn ACL during his sophomore season of high school basketball.

The XFL has partnered with the NFL Alumni Academy to develop potential players for its 2023 return to the field, the league announced Monday.

The academy, founded in 2020 and run by former NFL coaches and players, operates on the grounds of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Village in Canton, Ohio, during the NFL season. It is one of several groups that provides training and conditioning work to unemployed players, creating a pool for NFL teams who need injury replacements or otherwise are seeking to address depth on their rosters.

A two-time winner of the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award, Bell recorded one of the best seasons in program history as a junior when she averaged 24.3 points, 10.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.3 blocked shots per game. As a senior, she was one of five finalists for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award as Division I’s top shooting guard after averaging 22.8 points per game. An AP All-American Honorable Mention selection this season, Bell led FGCU to the conference regular season and tournament titles.

The Guardians and Myles Straw have agreed to a five-year contract extension, with club options covering the 2027 and 2028 seasons, per Zack Meisel of The Athletic. The deal is worth $25MM, per Mandy Bell of MLB.com, with the options valued at $8MM in 2027 and $8.5MM in 2028. This is the third extension for the club in recent days, following the deals for Emmanuel Clase and Jose Ramirez.
