MOUNT UNION (LAKE BLUE STREAKS) STAR CHANCE CASENHISER COMMITS TO ECKERD COLLEGE

April 20, 2026

Chance Casenhiser, the standout sophomore guard for the Mount Union Purple Raiders, officially announced his commitment to Eckerd College. The move comes just weeks after Casenhiser entered the NCAA transfer portal following a stellar sophomore campaign in Alliance.

A Decorated Tenure in Alliance
Casenhiser leaves a massive void in the Purple Raiders’ backcourt. After a breakout debut that saw him earn OAC Freshman of the Year honors in 2024-25, he avoided the “sophomore slump” by becoming one of the most feared offensive threats in the region.
In the 2025-26 season, Casenhiser led Mount Union in scoring, averaging 17.1 points per game. His ability to create his own shot and finish at the rim earned him a spot on the First Team All-OAC roster and helped keep the Purple Raiders at the top of the conference standings throughout the winter.
Heading South
The move to Eckerd College, located in St. Petersburg, Florida, represents a jump to the highly competitive Sunshine State Conference (SSC). Casenhiser will join the Tritons with two years of eligibility remaining, bringing a veteran scoring punch to a program looking to make a splash in the South Region of NCAA Division II.
For Mount Union fans, Casenhiser’s departure marks the end of a brief but electric era. For the Tritons, they are getting a proven winner and a versatile playmaker who has already shown he can lead a championship-caliber offense.
