Many of our alumni remember a special member of the Malone family, Maxamoose. While Malone has long been known as the Pioneers, Maxamoose emerged over time as a beloved student life spirit character who brought fun, energy, and a little bit of humor to campus traditions and events.
In 2011, Malone officially introduced J.W. Scout as the University’s athletic mascot, named after our co-founder, J. Walter Malone. Even then, Maxamoose remained part of campus culture, serving as a spirit character alongside J.W. Scout and becoming a favorite among students and alumni.
This fall, we’re excited to bring Maxamoose back in a fresh way with the unveiling of a new logo. It’s more than a mascot revival; it’s a celebration of Malone’s community, traditions, and the memories that connect generations of students. As we honor our history and look toward the future, Maxamoose reminds us that college should be filled with joy, belonging, and fun.
