Louisville, Ohio — Louisville City School District is pleased to welcome Dan Moody— he was
approved as the new head girls’ basketball coach at the Board of Education meeting on
Monday, June 26, 2023.
Dan is a Louisville graduate who attended Akron University and has been coaching basketball
since 2004. He coached at Heritage Christian for 11 years before taking positions at Fairless,
Sandy Valley, and Lake Center Christian. Most recently, he has spent his last 3 years coaching
at various levels here in Louisville for both the boys’ and girls’ basketball programs.
“Coach Moody understands the game of basketball on many levels. He believes in building
relationships and building players. His analytical skills in breaking down film and applying them
to everyday practices to catapult individual players to become amazing team players likely
comes from his experience as a supervisor at Timken Steel.” said Louisville Athletic Director,
Terrie Horn. “With the combination of Dan Moody’s depth of knowledge, and the talented
athletes currently in the program, there is no limit to what this team is capable of achieving now
and for years to come.”
When asked why do you coach, Moody stated, “First of all, it’s fun! | enjoy having a positive
influence on students and teaching them life lessons that come through sports. | love playing,
watching and teaching sports. Team sports have many positive effects, which benefit the
students socially, mentally and physically for a lifetime.”
Superintendent Shaffer said, “Hiring former Louisville grads continues to speak volumes for the
individuals wanting to give back to the community in which they grew up; it strengthens the
culture of Louisville. Since Dan has worked as a coach in the district for the last 3 years, his
transition to head coach will allow the program to continue to advance seamlessly.”
Our high school girls’ basketball program has a bright future. We welcome Mr. Dan Moody as
Louisville High School’s new head girls’ basketball coach.
