Former West Branch Star Reese Leone Named Interim Head Basketball Coach at Ohio Dominican University

June 26, 2026

Former West Branch High School standout and ODU assistant coach Reese Leone has been appointed as the interim head coach for the Ohio Dominican University men’s basketball team. Leone, a local scoring record-holder, takes over the NCAA Division II program following the resignation of former head coach Casey Kaufman.

Before transitioning to the sidelines, Leone put together highly decorated high school and collegiate playing careers.
At West Branch High School, the Beloit, Ohio native cemented himself as one of the program’s all-time greats. He finished his time with the Warriors as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,170 career points. Leone also set the school record for most career three-pointers made and was a four-time All-League and All-County selection. During his senior campaign, he averaged 16 points and four assists per game, leading West Branch to an 18-5 record, which tied the school record for single-season victories and secured an Eastern Buckeye Conference (EBC) championship.
Leone carried that success into his collegiate career at Westminster College. Over four seasons with the Titans, he appeared in 84 games (83 starts), surpassing the 1,000-point milestone to finish with 1,026 career points. A true floor general, Leone finished in the top three all-time in program history with 338 assists, leading the Titans in assists during every year of his career. His performance on the court earned him All-PAC honors, while his dedication in the classroom landed him on the PAC Academic Honor Roll and the Dean’s List for multiple semesters.
After spending time on the Ohio Dominican staff as a graduate assistant and a brief summer stint as a full assistant, Leone now assumes leadership of the Panthers’ program.
