It turns out Perry didn't need to look far for its next varsity wrestling coach. The Panthers announced on Monday that current assistant coach Danny Genetin will take over as head coach, pending Perry Local Schools Board of Education approval.

Baseball: Purple Raiders Set to Host NCAA Regionals

The Mount Union baseball team is set to host the 2025 NCAA Regionals as it earned an at-large bid. The Purple Raiders will host the four-team regional tournament this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Rafeld-Rogers Field. It's only the second time ever the Purple Raiders have played in the NCAA Tournament and first since the 2013 season. Mount Union is seeking the program's first NCAA Tournament win (in 2013, it lost 12-3 to Manchester and 5-2 to Illinois Wesleyan).

Mount Baseball: Hesse Named OAC Coach of the Year, Program Record 10 Raiders Earn All-OAC

Mount Union baseball head coach Paul Hesse was named the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Coach of the Year, and a program-record 10 Purple Raiders were recognized on the All-OAC teams, as announced by the league on Monday.

Hesse, in his 28th season, led Mount Union to the OAC Regular Season title and the No. 1 seed in the 2025 OAC Tournament. The OAC Regular Season Title was the first for Mount Union since 2017 and the second since 1970. This is Hesse's third OAC Coach of the Year honor (2013 and 2017).

A 6-10 transfer Josh Ojianwuna (oh-john-WOO-nuh) has announced his commitment to Ohio State on Tuesday. Ojianwuna played the last three seasons at Baylor and heads to Columbus with one season of eligibility.

Ojianwuna is coming off his best collegiate season where he averaged 7.4 points and 6.8 rebounds while shooting nearly 78 percent from the floor for the Bears in 2024-25. He was part of three Baylor teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament and he appeared in 87 games over the last three years.
