Indians to pick up option on Corey Kluber, to decline on Jason Kipnis

CLEVELAND -- The Indians wasted no time on one of their biggest offseason decisions: Bringing back Corey Kluber was a no-brainer.

Cleveland said it intends to exercise Kluber's $17.5 million contract option for next season, when the two-time Cy Young Award winner is expected to be healthy -- and maybe rejuvenated -- following an injury-shortened 2019.

Cleveland Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens admitted that it was a "bad call" to try a draw play on fourth-and-9 during Sunday night's 20-13 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

The Browns had the ball at the Rams' 40-yard line in the fourth quarter, with a chance to take the lead. But instead of trying to get the first down with a Baker Mayfield pass, Kitchens called a draw to Nick Chubb, who was stuffed for a 2-yard gain.

Fred McLeod, the Cleveland Cavaliers' announcer, died Monday night, the team announced. He was 67.

The Cleveland-area native had been the team's television play-by-play announcer since 2006.

The Cavs said McLeod died suddenly Monday night but did not elaborate. They called him a "great friend and teammate" and a "heart-felt ambassador."

Indians’ Tyler Naquin out for remainder of season; Jake Bauers recalled from minors

Naquin sustained an ACL tear to his right knee during the fifth inning of Friday night’s game against Tampa Bay.

NFL says Hunt can’t be with Browns during ban

CLEVELAND -- Kareem Hunt will have to spend his NFL suspension isolated from his team.

The suspended Browns running back, who must serve an eight-game ban for physical altercations, will not be permitted inside the team's facility starting Saturday at 4 p.m., league spokesman Brian McCarthy said Wednesday in an email to The Associated Press.
