Kyle Sasala Set to Take the Reins as GlenOak’s New Athletic Director

May 6, 2026
A new era for the GlenOak Golden Eagles begins today as the Plain Local Schools Board of Education is set to approve Kyle Sasala as the high school’s next athletic director at their May 6 meeting.
Sasala, who turns 30 next month, transitions to Stark County after a successful four-year stint leading the athletic department at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron. Prior to his time with the Fighting Irish, he served as the AD at Bishop Fenwick for one year and as an assistant AD for two years.
Filling “Big Shoes”
Sasala replaces the legendary Scott Garcia, who announced his retirement as athletic director last fall. Garcia has been a fixture at GlenOak since 2010, serving as both AD and the school’s winningest head football coach.
A Busy Offseason for the Eagles
Sasala’s hire is the final major piece of a massive coaching and administrative overhaul for GlenOak athletics this year. Since Garcia’s retirement announcement, the Golden Eagles have also introduced:
  • Matt Dennison as the new Head Football Coach.
  • Ryan McGonagle as the new Head Boys Basketball Coach.
