When it comes to high school basketball in Ohio, no team has been better at reaching that simple-yet-significant goal than Canton McKinley.

The Bulldogs’ varsity boys squad made history Tuesday night at the Canton Memorial Field House by becoming the first basketball program in state history (boys or girls) to win 2,000 games all time, achieving the mark with a 64-59 triumph over rival North Canton Hoover. Not only that — McKinley also wrapped up its second straight Federal League championship by finishing 12-0 in conference play, which administrators say is the first unbeaten record in league history.
